We recorded with Bob Lindner, a most delightful fellow with tons of playing and recording history in the Bluegrass world and more. His studio is located in the San Francisco nabe called Noe Valley. The room is perfect for 3 people, although we did get 4 in there to record the fiddle tunes. ****
The general set up was to have us face each other in a triangle, with no baffling, using a total of 3 microphones to record live takes. This means that each of us had one mic to record both our voice and instrument. Also, there would be some bleed between our 3 tracks, but this method allowed us to play together like we do, and capture our live performances. There is one overdub on the recording, because Bill plays both a banjo track and a mandolin track on Martha’s song, “Soldier Girl”. **** Next, we will enter info about what mics and equipment was used, details about each song/tune, our instruments, etc.
